Visiting Scholars and Students

Xuejin Li

China University of Petroleum (BS), 2011

Xuejin is a joint Ph.D. student working on nanostructured porous carbon and transition metal oxide/hydroxides synthesis and supercapacitor applications. He is also interested in the oxygen evolution reaction and stretchable devices based on crumpled graphene. He also loves running and basketball.

Graduate Students

Jonghyun Choi

Hanyang University (BS), 2012

Jonghyun is a fifth year mechanical engineering grad student. His research interest is in an ultra sensitive bio-sensor, and now working on graphene characterization and functionalization.

Michael Cai Wang

University of Toronto (BASc), 2011+PEY

Mike is a fifth year mechanical engineering grad student working on graphene and other 2D nanomaterials. He is a closet tree-hugger and an active member of the Illinois Solar Decathlon team. His retina has been previously irradiated by the awesomeness of the aurora borealis and as a result, tends to spell words weird and say “eh” spontaneously.

Juyoung Leem

KAIST (BS), 2011

KAIST (MS), 2013

Juyoung is a fourth year Ph.D. student working on micro CVD for graphene fabrication and SERS applications. She is also interesed in plasmonic phenomena. She loves art museums and classical musics and usually spends time for skeching, reading, and writing something.

Keong Han Yong

Geogia Institute of Technology (BS), 2013

Keong Yong is a not so fresh grad student dedicated to tinkering the wonder material – atomic thin carbon film with honeycomb lattice – Graphene. His passion lies in uncovering the roles of graphene in applications related to chemical and biosensing.

Peter Knapp

Northwestern University (BS), 2014

Peter is a third year Ph.D. student interested in developing photonic, optoelectronic, and plasmonic devices based on graphene. He spends his free time baking and trying to propose interesting activities as the Social Chair for GraMS.

Farhad Haque

Oklahoma State University (MS), 2013

University of Dhaka (MBA), 2011

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BS), 2009

Research Interest: Electrical and mechanical response in corrugated structure of 2D materials Hobbies: Traveling, movies

Chullhee (Chace) Cho

Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, KITECH (Research Engineer), 2016

Seoul National University (MS), 2013

Seoul National University (BS), 2011

Chace’s research interests are nanomanufacturing of 2D material and its application in sensors and actuator. He also loves sports and musics. He usually spends his free time for playing basketball, soccer, piano or composing songs.
